Stove and Oven Repair, Service & Installation
Having a malfunctioning stove or oven can be extremely frustrating, not to mention inconvenient. The good news is, the most common problems with both gas and electric ovens are typically easy to fix. Refer to your owner’s manual for the most reliable instructions for fixing simple issues yourself (always making sure you have turned off the power and/or gas to the unit first). If you’ve misplaced the printed manual, don’t worry – you can usually find a copy on the manufacturer’s website.
For more challenging issues, or if you just don’t have the time and patience to test your hand at repairs, don’t hesitate to contact Ace Appliance. One of our experienced, dependable technicians will help get you cooking again in no time! And if your stove or oven is beyond repair, we will let you know that too.
While you might experience any number of issues with your stove, the three most common problems include:
- Electric stove burner/s won’t heat
- Electric stove won’t adjust heat internally
- Gas stove won’t light
- Electric stove burner/s won’t heat
If the issue is with just one burner, it is likely a problem with the heating coil; swapping out coils is an easy process (just make sure they are completely cooled first.) However, if the issue is with all burners as well as the digital clock and/or oven light, you’re probably looking at a larger electrical issue. First, make sure the power to the stove is working. If it’s not an issue with the power, you may have blown a fuse in the unit.
- Electric stove will not adjust heat internally
If your stove or oven is not able to produce the various levels of internal heat corresponding to the settings on the dial, you may need to replace the infinite switch that’s connected to the heat dial. Again, your owner’s manual may provide easy instructions for replacing the switch.
- Gas stove won’t light
Flame won’t light? This could be for several reasons. First, the stove should click repeatedly if the power is on and the dial is set to “light.” If there is no flame, you should be able to smell the gas. If not, you probably have a gas flow problem. If you don’t hear a click, you might have a faulty ignition switch.
Other potential issues
- Doesn’t bake evenly
- Broiler not working
- Light is out
- Won’t turn on
- Not self-cleaning
- Door isn’t closing properly
- Door won’t open after self-cleaning
- Fan won’t turn on/off
- Range burners spark
Again, before attempting any repairs to your stove or oven on your own, your first course of action should be to refer to the owner’s manual. With gas stoves, it’s also important to use caution and work in a well-ventilated area. Keep a fire extinguisher on hand for emergencies.
If you can’t fix the issue yourself, call Ace Appliance today. As with all appliance repairs, we offer same-day, fast, professional and reliable service. Our technicians have a minimum of 10 years of experience, so you can trust them to get the job done right the first time.
